“This”I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” is truly the problem song.
In the results for Circumplex, Chat insists on categorizing it as Primary:Calm, Secondary: Contented and prioritizing the line “to pass the time away“. Both of these make sense when we think about how these words are defined for Circumplex and that we’re looking at words, not cultural history. Calm is “…steady and undisturbed….” and Contented is “…quiet satisfaction and ease…”
While I’m leery of pushing to hard on Chat to bend it to my conceptions, I do not like that, again looking at words, it doesn’t bring up “all the live long day“, which gets as much space in the song, or notes on getting up early, the captain’s yelling…
“to pass the time away”. as a motivational stance
1- I don’t want Chat “interpreting these songs deeply
2- a preconception or knowledge that this is a “work” song
